The fact of the matter is, TITLE. Inventory is currently low and buyers in first time home buying brackets are having a tough time finding something they can call home. Rates remain really low but without homes available it’s created a kind of log jam in all price ranges.Selling a home in Minnesota during the 2012 calendar year should be much easier than the previous 5 years, however there are still a lot of people under water and short sales will remain prevalent this year. I actually have seen a jump in short sale activity due in part because of the federal law protecting the homeowners from paying income taxes on the forgiven balance is set to expire this year. I do not see that law being extended but then again it is an election year and you never know what can happen.
One thing is for sure and that is in the Twin Cities prices have stabilized and I highly doubt they will go any lower as homes begin to really move this year. Supply is low and demand is increasing.
